WHY ORGANIC?

Why Organic Alcohol?
Alchemical Solutions is founded on principles of sustainability and holistic living. As a certified organic micro-distillery, that also meets USP (United States Pharmacopeia) standards, we guarantee that our customers receive products made only from the purest organic ingredients possible. Our 190 proof alcohol is made from the finest organic corn and grapes. All phases of the production process, including fermentation, distillation, packaging and shipping are done according to strict organic guidelines.

Certification
Our products are certified organic by California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF), which states that we meet National Organic Standards established by the USDA/National Organic Program.

Superior Flavor
By definition, neutral spirits are odorless, colorless, and tasteless. Nevertheless, neutral spirits have a unique aroma and slight flavor depending on the materials and technique used to produce them. You'll notice, for example, that the flavor and smell of organic grain alcohol is somewhat different from that of organic grape alcohol. Each plant lends each alcohol its unique character and vitality. Likewise, you may find that conventional neutral spirits smell and taste sterile and lifeless.

Juniper Green, A UK-based producer of Organic Gin, has experienced that organic grain creates fine alcohol naturally, because it has a better biological cell structure than grain grown with chemical fertilizers. According to the company, no chemical fungicides are used to assist in the storage of organic grain resulting in natural microorganisms which aid full and deep fermentation.

Sustainability
Most of our competitors are large, conventional, corporate distilleries. Due to growing demand, they have recently started to sell organic alcohol. However, smaller, decentralized production plants are generally favored by the organic food and beverage industry. Small-scale micro-distilleries produce high quality organic alcohol, and, in contrast to large corporations, are more aligned with the long term values of sustainability.

A sustainable future depends, in part, on recycling, alternative energy, small scale businesses, and local production of products. At our plant, for example, the fermented organic grain left over from our micro-distillery process is sold as feed to local farmers.

So, when buying organic, you have a choice. You can either buy from a large, corporate distillery, or from a micro-distillery like ours. If you decide to buy from us, we ll guarantee that you ll receive a high quality organic product at a competitive price. Moreover, you ll also be able to vote with your dollars in support of a more sustainable future.

Top 10 reasons to use organic products:

1. Protect future generations
The food, medical and beverage choices we make now will impact our children's health in the future.

2. Prevent soil erosion
Soil is the foundation of the food chain in organic farming. In conventional farming, however, the soil is used more as a medium for holding plants up so that they can be chemically fertilized. As a result, American farms are suffering from the worst soil erosion in history.

3. Protect water quality
Water makes up two-thirds of our body mass and covers three-fourths of the planet. Despite its importance, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), estimates pesticides contaminate the groundwater in most states, polluting the primary source of drinking water for than more than half the country s population.

4. Save energy
Modern, industrial farming uses more petroleum than any other single industry. More energy is now used to produce synthetic fertilizers than to till, cultivate and harvest all the crops in the US.

Organic farming, on the other hand, saves energy by not depending on synthetic fertilizers and by having its produce travel fewer miles from farm to table.

5. Keep Chemicals off your plate
Pesticides are poisons designed to kill living organisms many of whom are important in organic farming. Pesticides are also harmful to humans. In addition to cancer, pesticides are implicated in birth defects, nerve damage and genetic mutation.

6. Protect farm worker health
A National Cancer Institute study found that farmers exposed to herbicides has a six times greater risk than non-farmers of contracting cancer. An estimated 1 million people are poisoned annually worldwide by pesticides.

7. Help small farmers
More than 650.000 family farms have been lost in the past decade. Organic farming is proving to be one of the few survival tactics left for small family farms.

8. Support a true economy
Although organic foods might seem more expensive than conventional foods, conventional food prices do not reflect hidden costs borne by taxpayers, including nearly $80 billion in federal subsidies. Other hidden costs include pesticide regulation and testing, hazardous waste disposal and clean-up, and environmental damage.

9. Promote biodiversity
Mono-cropping has left the soil lacking in natural minerals and nutrients. To replace the nutrients, chemical fertilizers are used, often in increasing amounts.

Such single crops are also much more susceptible to pests, making farmers more reliant on pesticides.

10. Better taste
There s a good reason why many chefs use organic food in their recipes they taste better! Organic farming stars with the nourishment of the soil, which eventually leads to the nourishment of the plant and, ultimately, our palates.
